Two full weeks without any algae to speak of. I think I may be getting closer to finding a balance thanks to DJ and Tom.

I was hoping the rotala rotundifolia would grow up to cover the Hagen ladder and it probably will in time. I may have to move the Hydrocotyle over to that side, since it's growing as fast as DJs angels are having babies......

that looks like a red crypt in the front. are those corkscrew vals in the front also? they may cover up the entire rear once they get tall. you may want to move them back, but that's an awesome tank. nice job.

Thanks for your comments.
The red plant in the middle is, I believe, Alternanthera reineckii. It's quite easy to grow, but it tends to get many very white roots that grow out of the stems. The vals are corkscrews, but I've had these for years and they only grow about as tall as they are in that shot. Now, spreading is a different story, if I don't keep pulling them.

Thanks DJ. I guess those Alternanthera reineckii are plenty happy then....

The bronze plant in front is a Crypt wendtii 'Tropica'.
