My liquid ferts are due to arrive today or tomorow, and In the tank I had problems with Brush algae, Hair algae (staghorn perhaps), green algae, perhaps beard algae... point here is, There was a crap load of algae.

I blacked the tank out of Sunday afternoon, and today was the day I finally got to take it off.

On taking it off, VOILA, no more algae. None. All gone. I did a max cleaning right before hand, didn't add anything. Just changed half of the water twice over the weekend, and blacked it out.

Interesting enough, my anubias sprouted a new leaf, sag. put out some new baby plants, and my banana plant put out a 6 inch stem to a leaf which is about to open all in pitch black!, and the algae on the walls is gone. Even the algae on the filter intake disapeared.

Now it's algae free, which is very exciting, lets hope it stays that way.

Just thought others might like to hear my results and how I got them.

Looks good! I'm about to do the same I think, I'm in a similar situation you were in. Did you still feed the fish during the blackout? I'd assume so, but wanted to check.

nah, the fish are Sorubim Lima, 2 needlenose gars, and a rainbow shark, I just fattened em up real good before I did it.

Looking good!
