so today I went to Big Al's aquarium and fish store. I bought 4 bosemani rainbowfish and 2 bags of flourite red!
I already had about 70lbs. of flourite in the tank, but I had terraced it, so there was like 1/2 inch in some places, now there will be about 2 inches everywhere!
(I have a suggestion, don't put flourite into an already filled aquarium, it'll take a few days to get the water clear again even with double the filters!)
so yea I'm just waiting for the water to clear up so I can put my new fish in, so I'm kind of excited. I haven't made an addition to the tank in like 5 months. and my fish haven't been doing that well since(I've been slacking off) so my tank was well nigh empty!

I've been running a new tank with fluorite for about 3 weeks and it STILL hasn't cleared up. Very dusty. I added some micron pads to the filter this afternoon so hopefully that should take care of it.

Good luck with your tank. What fish are you going to get?

The first time I bought fluorite, I tried rinsing it then putting it in my tank, and it comlpetely clouded up my tank for a long time!

The last few times, I added the fluortie without rinsing in the bottom, then added 1'' of gravel on top. It hasn't clouded at all except whn you move the gravel, and even there, just barely. I'm not sure if this is the proper way to go about, but it worked for me!

well I already had the tank for like a year and a half. you can see what else I have in it in my sig.
it's a planted tank, but I still need to add more plants. I doubt it will take that long to clear up though, it's already better. I have enough filters on there and I also did a 30gallon water change after I added the flourite. all the water in the tank gets cycled about every 10 minutes.
I currently have 2 sword plants, 2(or 3) Tiger Lotus, an onion plant, and two different kinds of ludwigia repens(narrow and broad leafed). I want to get a good foreground plant that's under 3 inches tall, and I also want to get some giant hairgrass.
