Alright everyone, just wanted to hear your opinions on 240 tanks, are they good? which manufacturer to go with etc, also wavemakers, closed loop, sump, and other things needed for a FOWLR tank, Lighting etc, some of the good brands of skimmers things that i can get a list going and then calculate the cost but i wanna see what everyone is using and buy the good products instead of wasting money and buying bad ones and have to buy a better one in the long run. basically can somone tell me exactly everything i will need for the tank to have a skimmer, wavemaker, closed loop systems, lights, sump, and just plain old give me ideas of what everyones dream tank would be like if it was a 240 so i can make my own!...i currently have a 135 but the width of the tank and height is killer so im going with a 240 tall tank. Thanks for anyones help! i appreciate it, i just want to make sure i can get the easiest tank to maintain, and still be on a budget in a way, i dont wanna kill myself in debt, but i want a beautiful tank, with tangs, triggers, puffers, wrasses, and others. Definitely get a generator. Cheap insurance against having a multi-thousand-dollar setup crash.
Also, is this going to be above a basement? If it were me, I'd have a very large sump in the basement below the tank, along with some large vats for mixing saltwater, and pumps hooked up to pump water out of the sump and into the drain, and them saltwater in to replace it, so you'd just have to flip switches to do maintenance. Having a large sump also will help with cooling if you're going to have a lot of lights.

Yeah the tank will be in my basement, located in the partitioned wall, it will have a sump and everything but id like to know which manufactures are the best and exactly what i would need to make the system functional. thanks for the help - Justin
for lighting I'd go the DIY route with MH or PC (or both) retrofit kits. You'll save a lot of money, especially with a tank as large as 240 gallons.
