any plans for the new fish yet? You'll have to be a littel careful b/c of the guppy and the betta, barbs (and even some tetras) might nip at those long fins. A few more corys would be great too, they'll love the company
I won't get any tetra or barbs. I was thinking white cloud first and then another school of something I forgot what it was that I wanted he he.
I'm hoping that I can get the tank either later this month or by next month so I'm planning on what kind of fish I'll get. I probably won't get any more guppies for while. Will just keep the one i have one Dear Loner guppy! : I defintely will get more cory maybe 3 to make it 5. They are lot of fun to watch, always busy in the tank! COOL :troll:
I don't really know how to help, but I wouldn't suggest you completely replace all the water. I would keep about 5 gallons of the old water just to be safe, and test the water for ammonias, nitrites, and nitrates.
There's no reason to keep any of the old water. It's just full of waste and toxins and very little of the bacteria you're looking to move over. Just move the filter , substrate, plants (java moss is great for seeding a new tank) and a few of the decorations if you really want to keep them. Move the filter over even if you have a new one on the tank, the small one will seed the new filter.
Regardless of the amount of fish you're moving over you shouldn't experience a mini cycle unless you manage to kill the majority if your bacteria population.
Wait about 48 houes before adding any new fish. And you're good to go.
