I'm upgrading from my 75gallon to a 125

I've currently got a snowflake eel and a truely laid back huma huma trigger in the 75.

I am going to do a fish only in the 125 I already have a skimmer for the tank its a aquaclear 250

now for the questions

1. Refugium or sump
2. Can I do a shallow sand bed since I'll be putting the eel and trigger into the new tank.

These are my starting questions after I get the tank and filtration set up I'll ask the rest

thanks in advance for the help

deinatley refugium(they rock) and do you have any inverts? just an eel and a huma huma? then the a shallow sandbed is fine. So your huma is laid back eh? I've been wanting one of those forever!!!! How is it? They good fish?

Lots of options...
A refugium can be located IN a sump, along with various unsightly gear.
Condsider the goal of the refugium in your fish system; if it's assistance in nitrate reduction you may need a large one to have any serious impact.
Please research reverse lighting plants/LR/sand carefully for fish applications; deeper beds (DSB) in the fuge have proven beneficial but again, lots of opinions here; your research shows you're on the right track; share what you find so others will benefit.
