has anybody out there upgraded their Milwaukee needle valves with a better one? I know this may void the warranty but is it easy to swap out the needle valve on this regulator with one of Rex Griggs?

yes easy to switch. Milwaukee needle valve is "okay". if one plays with the valve on and off, after a while it can start being funky and would be hard to adjust the bubble rate. So key here is to get a timer so you wont have to fiddle with the knob.
