When cleaning my tank today, I accidentally uprooted one of my aponogetons. Will this significantly harm the plant? Should I try to cover its roots or just leave it "floating" 1 cm or so above the gravel substrate? I did not even know it could root that well, oy.

No, that won't hurt it - as long as it didn't get *ripped* out of the substrate. Just cover it back up a little so that it is fully planted again.

As long as you're gentle, you can uproot any plant, move it all around, and put it right back - with no ill effects. It's just that some plants, esp. some heavy root feeders like Tiger Lotus, don't like to have their massive root system ripped out of the substrate.
