URGENT! Help!

Definately read the euthanasia thread, it will tell you all you need to know! I am glad to have found that, I almost had to kill a fish recently, but luckily (for me :sad ) the poor thing was dead by the time I got home later that day. Also I may not have understood you correctly, but the only time fish have ever got sucked to my filter is when they had died or were about to die, does it get that much more powerful when the one tube is gone? Maybe it was unhealthy to begin with? Anyhow the sponge or pathyhose are a good idea, don't beat yourself up, you've learned something at least :(

no, no she was pretty healthy. she was too curious and went to check out the opening on the surface. ok, i dont know if you can picture (or have seen) a HOB aquaclear 30, but you have the main part where the motor is, then you have a small "V" shaped plastic tube that you connect to the main part and then you connect the tube itself to this "V" shaped part. What happened was that i removed the tube and left this "V" shaped part open on the surface of the water and the filter still running. She came to check it out and got sucked in. Ballon molies are too curious; at least mine are. Whenever im vacumming the gravel i have to be very careful because instead of swimmng away from it, they always come to check it out!
So, she got sucked head first and was stopped by the helix, which cut part of her face off :( when i released her (unfortunately) she was still alive and started swimming like crazy in the tank... it was like being in a horror movie. :( i cant erase this image from my mind :(

Awww, so sorry :sad , I do have a filter just like that, but its been so long since I looked at it , I forgot what it looked like after you take off the tubes... so is it still alive, or have you taken "taken care" of it yet? I actually just cleaned mine the other day, but only the bottom tube needed cleaning, so I didn't have to worry, I guess I'll have to be careful next time.
