Urgent Help

Hi guys

I have a fluval 405 filter on my tank, I have just cleaned it all and switched it back on, it filled with water ok etc but when i switched it on it aint comming out the out pipe and the filled is making a kind of grindling noise. Everything is how i normally do it. Can any one suggest what might be wrong or have you had the same problem with this filter ever?

You might have to prime it again. There's probably a break in the syphon so water is not going through.

Ditto on what is300zx says. It sounds like it may not have been properly primed. Try priming and restarting the filter and see if the sound goes away.

I've had something like this happen under three different circumstance:

1. Lost prime (as already stated)
2. Some grit got up inside the impellar. Remove it, rinse it off, reassemble it.
3. Blockage INSIDE the lid. Remove the lid and make sure that the inlets and outlets are clear. (Mine sometimes get blocked with algae and/or tiny baby trumpet snails.
