Urgent - Pond pump crashed!

only time i had a pump failure was because water leaked into the motor area thru the power cord connection to the pump and yes it tripped fuses.

My experience with Harbor Freight pumps is that they are particularly lousy! Some stuff they sell is very serviceable and useful but the pumps are very very low quality. Use the replacement pump to buy you the time to find a decent deal on a quality pump... or you will be doing a lot of swapping... enough to darn near eat up the price of a quality pump in gas alone.

That’s definitely stressful, but your fish should be okay for a short while. In a 1700-gallon pond with lots of plants and only a dozen or so minnows plus fry, water quality usually holds up for a day or two without circulation. The plants will help keep ammonia and nitrates in check, so immediate danger isn’t likely.

That said, stagnant water can heat unevenly or develop low-oxygen spots, especially on warm days. A simple temporary fix is to manually agitate the water—scooping and pouring water back in with a clean bucket or using a small battery-powered aerator can help. Even intermittent circulation is better than nothing.

When you replace the pump, looking at Best Pond Pumps From EasyPro or other reliable models can prevent these headaches in the future. For now, monitor your fish, avoid overfeeding, and they should ride this out fine.
