URGENT: Shark's skin coming off/infected?? Help please!

If you can just brush the worm off the skin gently like with a swish of the fish net near the worm to create a flow....it should dislodge. The worms are excellent nutrition which is going to keep his strength and immune system going so I'd continue with them. Another day and he's hanging in there, that's just amazing and a tribute to you for your dedication and hard work!:thm: The pictures are still hard to look at. Not many fish would still be alive after that type of injury. Awesome!!

Great job! He's still in choppy waters right now, but with your dedication and efforts he has the greatest chance of survival! What a trooper! :D The wound doesnt seem to have gotten deeper, so that good!

Pink is right about the worm, just wave your hand near his head, dont touch it- the water pressure will probably knock it off.

As for your local shops, you can order fish treatments online! You ought to google for the medications you want online and have them delivered to you. Just an option!

I'm so excited that he is eating and staying active! Thanks for the pic update!

How are the cichlids doing in their new tank?

The cichlids are fine in their new tank, not too much stress, got a filter working. Thank you for the worm advice pinkertd and VivaLaVic..

Today I fed the shark and noticed the cube of bloodworms aren't dispersing, and the shark can't seem to find it on some days! Should I feed dry food? or spread the worms out?

If I order online, it will take about 2 weeks to deliver, will that be too long?

Ok I brought medication. It's Interpret Anti Internal Bacteria, containing Bronopol, Formaldehyde and Benzalkonium chloride. Will they help? I'm going to apply it tonight...

Bloodworms: You can fill a dish with just a little warm water and allow the bloodworm cube to de thaw in it. Use a fork to stir it up.

OR- you can feed him some pellets. Fish love garlic so if he isnt eating drip a little juice from a can of garlic cloves or mash up some fresh garlic and rub it on his food. It may entice him to eat. (Someone on AC told me about this when one of my fish wouldnt eat- after a rub of garlic he was eating anything I threw in there)

I dont know about the meds, only because I refrain from using them, but I also have never dealt with an injury of this size. I'll leave it to someone who knows a thing or two about the product you purchased to answer that one.

Glad he's hanging in there. Can you get more photos?

I hope It's not too late. It is known in industry/hobby that Any med containing Formaldehyde is NOT to be used on any open wound.

Can you post pics as soon as possible so we can see the "black growth/lines" you are seeing.

On the Interpet, I hope someone with more experience can come along and advise on that.

It looks like this is definitely an internal medicine, not to be applied. The catolog says that it is "A Unique patented formulation that cures sick fish of internal systemic bacterial infections caused by Pseudomonas, Aeoromonas, and Vibrio bacteria species."

So if it is taken internally, I assume mixed with food, then would the possible amounts of free formaldehyde in the tank water from the food not eaten be deleterious to the wound? I don't know the answer to that.

This is from the catalog as well:
