URGENT: Shark's skin coming off/infected?? Help please!

i've been following this thread and wow! this shark has fight in him! and as melody said, kudos to his keeper for working so hard to help him make it.

Wow, thats really great progress, he is making a good recovery.
Im really glad for him ;)
Keep it up till hes out of the woods.

Just incredible. Congrats to you for all the hard work; it is really paying off!!! As mentioned above, now is not the time to stop... keep up with that good diet and those daily wayer changes. If you're still worrying about the med issue, simply forget it. He's making unreal progress and there are no signs of infection in any of those pics (and never have been).

Props again Dano!!!!!

He's doing okay now, still the same...

I have a question: when can I put the cichlid and the catfish BACK to the shark's tank? What stage of wound healing?

If I put the cichlid back, will it bite the wound again? But its not it that caused it in the first place.

Not until it is completely healed, I would think. Clean water is still your number one priority, and not only will the other fish dirty the water, but fish do have a sense of smell and the cichlid will be attracted to the sent of the wound. I would wait until all the tissue turns black.

We know the catfish caused the wound and the cichlid pecked at it. DO NOT put the cichlid or the catfish in until the wound is COMPLETELY healed. By reintroducing these fish you leave the wound to more picking (as has been done before) and it creates more waste from the fish that could lead in infection of the open wound.

So in order to keep progressing and not take a few steps back, lets leave the Cichlid and the catfish where they are.

Good work! :D

I'm not sure who caused the wounds, my suspect is some featherfin catfishes, which I gave away already. The existing catfish and the cichlid I don't think caused the wound, they are really timid, however, you guys said the cichlid picks on wounds right? so if I put it back after it has completely healed, then will cichlids attack normal skin (no wounds)?

I cannot leave the catfish and the cichlid where they are now, a small 20 gall hospital tank with an emergency filter which requires almost daily water changes, I think I have to put them back in the big tank...Plus it's on the floor now, no room in the house.

I'm just asking if the cichlid will peck/attack a paroon shark readily?
