Our panda cory cat looks really sick. I just checked one everyone and his gills look bloody and red and his fins look bad too. He's also breathing heavily. He's in a 10 gallon tank (sand and minimal gravel substrate) with 3 male guppies, one leopard cory, a snail, and two peppered cories. The temperature is 78F and constant, ammonia 0, nitrate 3, nitrite 0 at the last test a few days ago but I'll test again just to make sure. We change the water every five-seven days. The tank has been set up for 3 months and is completely cycled. Does anyone have any ideas? His gill on the other side looks completely normal and he was fine yesterday.

aww poor guy. I don't have much advice to but quarantine him away from the other fish and hope for the best. Whenever I had a cory like this they never made it. =/ the best of luck to you. Was he a new addition?? in the past mine started to swim oddly and start laying on it's side.

No he's not new....we've had all of our cories for quite some time...I'm just hoping that maybe the snail got him or something...

I was just suggesting quarantine because of the chances that it might be a internal parasite you could avoid spreading it. how is he doing now?

Honestly if its just one side I would be suspicious of injury. Otherwise I would guess hemorraghic septicemia. How is he doing now? Any other fish showing symptoms?

To update, he died the 8th (same day). He was moved to a qt tank and continued to decline, passing away a few hours later. He had some spasms or something at the end.

Unfortunately, one of the peppers is showing mild symptoms of something now. I cannot qt him because my qt things are in my dorm and I am at home--the university has locked it up until Jan 11.

He is pale, with fins clamped, with some pinkness. He doesn't have the same "injured" look as the other one, but he is very timid. He looks better than last night and is now eating and browsing with the group.

Water parameters are good and he doesn't appear to have ich or fungus going on. Everyone else looks fine. He is also the runt.

For what I have on hand, I have Jungle ick-clear, Jungle fungus-clear, pimafix, and quICK cure. On thurs, I can go to the LFS.
