Just got a new Eheim 2213 with about 1yr old EhfiSubstrat. I was either going to keep it, or replace like half (1/2 liter for half) of Ehfisubstrat Pro, which is $29 per liter local.

Opinons?

Also, it all looks clean. Should I do any cleaning to this stuff, if so how?

Think I should keep the old stuff or replace like 1/2 of it? I rather not spend $30 if I don't have too. Depends how long this stuff lasts, and how much better the pro stuff is vs old stuff.

What do you mean 1 yr old?
1 year old running or 1 year sitting?

If running keep all of it. If sitting, throw it away and start new.

It was used (running) for about a year, but it's dry now (bought off craig'slist)

It looks extremely clean, so I'm probably going to use it.

Ok, but I would rinse it first.

This thing is driving me crazy! :mad2:

The tube on the top (pressure side) was leaking slowly. I cut the tube fresh and put it back on and secured the tightening ring. Still leaked, so I said the heck with it and put one of those Black Zip Ties on it. The leak is pretty much stopped now. That said, having to use Zip Ties to stop a leak is UnSat.

The big problem now is noise. The unit itself is kind of loud. It doesn't bother my gf, but it bothers me. It's louder then my Marineland 170 Biowheel and my airpump combined. I tilted it over and over to get rid of air, and I also turned it off and on. I bought this so it would be a quite replacement for my biowheel, so much for that.

The Spray bar also makes noise. Turns out if it has the shape of a flute and has holes like a flute... it makes noise like a flute. Even my gf could hear the high pitch noise it makes. The only solution was to turn the knob 1/2 way on one of my quick releases on the intake.

Over all, I give the Eheim 2213 C-
Maybe I'm unlucky, or I'm doing something wrong :help:

Yes, it's used. It is 1yr old, that should be nothing for a Eheim supposedly.
