Used Melafix for mouth rot and havin trouble please help

Yes I vaccum my gravel when I do my water changes. Is this too much? The only time I've ever had any left over food was with this frozen shrimp I just tried. I didnt know how much to give. Well I do now LOL man what a mess.
I'm going to put my loach in my ten gallon tank just to be safe. He isnt sick yet and I dont want to take a chance.
My fish are breathing better now that I put the filter back in and removed the meds. What other med would you reccommend? I havent done my water change yet. Was too late when I got home tonight. Also the fish that had the slight cotton stuff on the mouths I can barely find a trace of it now. My neon with the missing upper jaw though is still sick but acting better. They are still going up and down the glass though even with the lights off at first. I think I may have messed up my bio filter by doing a 40 or 50 change before adding the meds Friday. Its like Im having spikes with the ammonia or something. What do you recommend? How often should I clean gravel and change water? I was doing so well with my tanks for so long and now this happens. Thanks for all your help everyone.

I bought some cycle today along with a bubble curtain to help them along. I had alot of success with the cycle when I started it without fish. I hope it will do just as well with a fish load to try and reverse my bio crash.
Unfortanatly I will have to wait till prob. Tues. or so to buy any test kits and what ever else I may need.
I have never used a water tester. What kind would be best since I have a 29, 55, 10 and soon 30 gallon tanks? I dont know a thing about them or what to do. Is there certain kinds that dont work as well?
Also I have about 4 bio balls that I bought at PetLand that I'd put away cause they wouldnt stay away from the fileration in the 55 and was always bobbing down into the tank hitting my fish or just annoying them. Should I get them out for the 29 or are they no good since I've had them out of water for well over a year? If I can put them back in is there anyway to keep them from going over to the filtered water? Thats so aggervating!!!
Will my pleco be ok if I put him in the 55 with the 4 gold fish and 2 cats? My large 4lined pimadalia cat tends to pick on just small fish and the pleco is almost his size. I bought them at the same time 3yrs ago. Just moved the cat cause he was eating my small fish. Something Petland ppl said wouldn't happen. I lost alot of fish to him. Very expensive food!!! Ive never moved this pleco since I brought him home. Do you think he will get very upset or will he be happy in a bigger tank? I no longer trust any of my lfs advice. They told me to just flush my sick fish and buy new ones to put in the tank without treating it. I told him that I couldn't kill them. They'd have to die on their own. I think thats cruel unless they are suffering too much and no chance for survival and even then I dont know if I could do it.

Well I'm pretty sure now my neon tetra had the tetra disease. He died over night. When I got him out he was missing his tail. Just hope my other fish are going to be ok now. Theres no sign of the mouth rot now. Going to do a water change./grav. vac. Thanks all!!!

Water change routine:
-remove 50% of the water
-vacuum as much substrate as possible while removing water
-rinse any filter media in the "removed" water from the steps above
-refill tank with "dechlorinated" tap water that is within 1-2 degrees of the tank's water
-repeat the above steps every week

One more thing: throw the Cycle in the trash. You may *think* it helped, but it does not. It does not contain the correct bacteria for FW aquariums.

Many people have reported very high nitrite spikes when they used Cycle. Save your money for test kits and do lots of water changes. Your fish need fresh water, not chemicals and the wrong bacteria.

Hi everyone, sorry my computer has been going crazy and wouldnt let me do much here in AC. I stopped the melifix it started to help after 14 days but it all came back. Now I'm using Maroxy and it seems to be helping. They also gave me some green powder meds to use with it. Im almost done with the treatments. The only fish that isnt well is my crooked Danio. He is now really bent like an upside down U. This happened with this med. and he isnt very active now. Wonder if the meds did this or what? Hope he makes it had him a long time. He still eats a little and can still swim.
I would buy my own testing kit, but we are short on money and Ive been to every store around me and they only have the seperate ones. Theres no Kits and kinda pricey too.

Well the crooked danio died yesterday or last night while we was gone at the picnic. It got really skinny though it was eating and I knew it would not be long. In fact I was planning on putting it in the freezer when I got home to end its suffering. I just hope it didnt have that TB everyone is talking about. I had it for 3yrs I think and has always done good till I put that Maroxy in the tank with the green powder med in. Anyways . now if I could just get the fungus off of that one fish on its gill I think the tank will be fine. I dont see it on the mouth of the other fish now. Im crossing my fingers. If my hubby would ever set the 30 gal. up ( it needs leveled) then I'd have a QT to put the fish in.
