I picked this pond filter w/ UV light and pump kit which pumps 590 gallons a hour brand new on ebay for 40.00 with shipping. My question is do you think this would work to filter a 100 gallon aquarium and would it be safe I never have used a filter w/ UV before. here is some info:

FISH MATE 500GS

Contains C8W Gravity UV+Bio Filter and 600 Pump

It would have to set a bit higher then the tank for the water to drain from the filter back into the tank that is not a problem for me my lights would block it from view so you really wouldnt see it. I just wondered if anyone else uses this or has tried it - thanks

Is there any need to worry about radiation exposure from the UV light since this is made to be used for a outdoor pond and not a aquarium? I just want to be safe.

The UV filter is usually a box that shines UV light on water running through it...at worst you'd get a sunburn sitting next to it all day, imo.

Wow lol. Yeah it should work... Overkill filtration lol. But really, there's no such thing as overkill filtration. You can overkill chemical filtration though

6 tanks per hour... would the water flow be too much?

no, the flow as advertised is rarely the same as when it is actually in use, and as debris settles into the filter and parts flow will slow down. however, even at the highest possible flow for that filter, it's not too much.
