I have noticed a lot of talk about using "Activated Carbon" in saltwater aquariums. Some say it does more harm than good,I believe it is a very good filtering media when used properly. As all filter media it has its limitations.Carbon does such a good job of cleaning the water it loads up very fast with pollutants and needs to be changed frequently,The more contaminated your system is,the more frequent filter cleaning and changing of filter media,Once the Carbon reaches full saturation it will leach contaminants back into your water.Personally I only run Carbon if my Nitrates and Phosphates start to rise.I also use R/O-D/I water and a good salt mix(no Nitrate and Phosphate)I would like to here your comments on this subject,Thanks Rick
