Using carbon to reduce tannins from driftwood?

If I popped an extra filter on my 10 gallon planted tank (an AquaClear with carbon insert along with my internal Fluval/no carbon) how long would it take to clear up yellowish water?

Water is mildly darkened from driftwood (which I boiled before putting in tank) enough so that the water looks slightly 'dirty', but not dark brown...

tannin stained water

What kind of fish are you keeping? Many tropicals like tannin stained water. The carbon should pull the tannin out of the water within a day or two, perhaps sooner. I have a tank with neons and corys, and I put a little blackwater extract in for them. Perhaps it'll remind them of home.

Yes, you can do that. Frankly, I don't care about the brown water. I just leave it, and it goes away in a week or so. But that's me
