Yep. I'm sure that's why Glabe looked at price as a possible drawback. He likes his silicone. Which is probably a sentence that should never be taken out of context.

I have egg crate in my 120 sa cichlid tank. They havent really dug all the way to the egg crate yet and I have a blood parrot, kirin parrot, jd, severum, and cutteri cichlid.

allaboutfish,
How deep is your substrate?
I'm thinking about going 2.5" deep with CaribSea tahitian moon gravel.
I guess it depends on the species of cichlid as to whether or not they will be avid diggers.

I don't have experience using it, but since folks with marine tanks use it to put under the live rock, I can't see how it'd be something you needed to avoid. I plan to use egg crate when I set up my marine tank.

I just purchased some eggcrate/light diffuser from Lowe's. It was only $10 for a large sheet of it (about 2x4')
I was picturing something like the eggcrate people put on top of their mattresses for added comfort, but this stuff is a hard plastic.
I can see why it's used in aquariums. I plan on cutting it down to fit underneath my larger rocks.

Glabe...silicone...inflatables...all kind of the same.....:evil_lol:

Tanker is correct...cover the entire tank bottom with the egg crate.
