Using Electrical Insulation Tape inside the Aquarium

Krylon fusion has been used for years in SW tanks and FW tanks. Scuff the surface with sandpaper then spray allow 24 to 48 hours to dry completely then you are safe to go. Once dry Krylon is non toxic.

I have used it more times than I can count.

Depending on what size piping your talking about 1/2 to 3/4 These sizes in PVC white are designed to mate up with all black garden 1/2 to 5/8" tubing and looks great inside the aquarium and its water and leak proof if you mate it correctly with the right adapter. In larger sizes you could use all black ABS. I would rather do that "inside" the aquarium then either tape or paint as it will never fade or peel..

Hi Friends,

Sadly we dont get the black PVC pipes and the Krylon Fusion paints here... Any ideas on what the paint is exactly called (technically) ? May be its available as a different brand here ?

Wal-mart, Home Depot, Lowes, any hardware store or craft store, and it is Fusion made by Krylon.

If you are in the US or Canada don't know if it is sold overseas or maybe under another name.

What is the state and town. Any place that sells PVC has to sell ABS and garden tubing. You don't have a Lowes or HD, there is still shipping. If your not in a hurry order the stuff and get it shipped in week or so.

I suppose if you prefer electrical tape cant say I have used it but I have & do use aluminum metal tape and its never hurt my fish and stays stuck. With respect to almost all modern glues, paints and resins that are mineral spirit based (not water based), if allowed to cure completely (not underwater), they should all be non-toxic.

So I suppose since you live in a place where most of these things aren't available just use any mineral based black spry paint. Just make sure its modern and hasn't been on the store shelf for too many years.;)

I use electrical tape in all my tanks. I have two tanks where I wrapped black tape around a few holes on my Rena XP3/XP4 output spray bar to strengthen the force into a smaller area. I also have another tank where I use white electrical tape to attach a threaded PVC "T" connector to a short 3" straight pipe to make a cave structure for my Frontosas.

The tape is water proof and I have not seen any ill effects for the years I have it in my tanks.
