I just bought some new ICH meds, and after using it I looked at the active ingredients, or should I say ingredient: Hydrogen Peroxide (3%).

That got me to thinking, why can't I go to Wally World (Wal-Mart) and get the same 3% Hyd. Peroxide. The only difference I see in the labels is one inactive ingredient. The store bought stuff has .001% Phosphoric acid (as a stabilizer).

The ICH meds do not list the inactive ingredients, but I would assume they are the same stuff. Any opinions?

Yeah, I've heard Methylane Blue, and maybe green, but not Hydrogen Peroxide. I use that to clean the cuts I always get, (from the cold - the skin freezes, chafs, and cuts, happens a lot on the fingers.)

Tropical Science is the brand. The label reads shake well, add 0.5 ml per gallon. Repeat in 24 hours.

Active ingredient hydrogen peroxide 3%.

And some general info about ICH, how to spot it and the like.

I've always used Quick Cure (turns the water blue) with good results. Which I may return to, but I was trying to support a new fish store in town. So far they have been fairly knowledgeable, and if they don't know something they'll tell you they don't know. I like honesty, instead of BS.

Methylene Blue as an Ich cure? Absolutely not. Pass the word. Read up on Methylene Blue and find out what it truly is good for. Because it does have uses in the aquarium still.

This is the "Ich X-tinguisher" spray in a red pump bottle made to look like a fire extinguisher! What a goof. The Clown Firemen chasing the midget dressed as a ciliate, brandishing a giant pump spray of this. I'm especially amused that they told you to take their bottle of hydrogen peroxide and shake it well before using! Read up on hydrogen peroxide and see why it's not recommended to shake up solutions of H2O2.

The wetman is extremely cranky tonight. Extremely cranky.
