Hi Friends !

I have bought 100 KGs of the Gravel from my Aquarium Shop for my new tank. The dealer has pre-washed it for me and has promised me that its safe for aquarium use. He is a Planted Tank specialist and he said that he has washed the gravel enough. He has also warned me not to disturb the gravel while filling water as it will turn the water chocolate brown in color.

Now, even while I was filling and leveling the wet gravel, I could see Brownish water at the bottom and even my hands are a little reddish brown when they dry after touching the gravel.

I have already filled my tank with this 100 Kgs of Gravel and I've finished the design etc. I'll be filling water tomorrow and I'm really afraid if everything will go wrong if the gravel gets disturbed and if the water turns muddy, cloudy etc...

Kindly help me what to do friends ? Will this partially washed gravel harm my fishes and tank ?

Kindly advice...
Regards
Kush

Hi there !

I really dont know how to describe it... anyways I'll try

Its light brownish colored and smells like Garden soil. The particle size is about 3 -4 mm I guess. It looks like small stones that are found in the common builders sand. Its almost like enlarged sand particles. Any ideas ?

The dealer uses this as substrate in all of his tanks and he said that its excellent for plants as it contains iron in it.

Any ideas friend ?
