Has anyone been having issues with USPS shipping recently?

I ask because I sent some fish to a member here and they were "guaranteed" to be delivered by 3 pm his time and that was a couple hours ago. When I contact USPS they simply say they show the package in transit for delivery after leaving San Diego yesterday. There is a whole lot of land between SD and the Eastern U.S. where the package is to be delivered to have such a vague answer.

Likewise, I have a package that was supposed to be delivered "guaranteed" a couple hours ago that is coming from Ohio. It's no where to be found either.

Both of these packages were sent overnight express and I am a little frustrated. I have never had these issues before, and I don't like charging someone for overnight express that doesn't show up overnight. (I don't like being on either side of the coin)

I find it odd that both packages are equally late with no explanation from the USPS.

I'm not sure but usually if I drop off express packages at the PO after 12pm to 3pm (latest express packages will leave the PO that day for shipment), they take as long as priority (3 days). If I drop them off before the 12pm time, they usually get to the buyer before the 3pm time the next day/overnight. When did you drop the packages off at the PO?

I dropped off the package around noon (was supposed to be able to drop it off as late as 3 pm with the guarantee) and the package that was sent to me was dropped off early morning. I still have time to receive before the PO closes, so I'm not as worried there, but in New York the PO is closed and the recipient still has not received the package. Definitely frustrating.

USPS sucks....

It appears so. They pretty much have no answers for me right now and I am a bit perturbed about it. All I can do is hope the fish arrive alive at some point. Very disappointing.

Use Fed Ex, I don't know of any business that trusts overnight delivery of important documents to USPS anymore. It's more expensive but you get what you pay for...

In my area, USPS express mail works; recently I received fishes from Ohio and the trip took only 21 hours. In another previous occasion, the experience with express mail was also very positive. But priority mail is a total disaster; it can take from 5 to 8 days. So, experiences may vary depending on the area where you live, IMO.

The post office doesn't have guaranteed overnight to all locations anymore and hasn't in quite awhile. They have express mail that takes 2 days at the most, most times 1 day. BUT they have to tell whether it will be a 1 day or 2 day delivery. If they tell you next day by 3pm then it should be there. If it isn't, take your receipt to the post office where it was sent and you'll get a full refund.

The guarantee won't apply if the recipient is not there to receive it and sign, unless the package was sent with a signature waiver, which at that point it can be left at the address like any other package.

So at least you can get your money back for it being late, and hopefully the fish or whatever will still be OK.
