Will a uv light help control an algae outbreak in my tank? I have 210w of light on a 120tall tank(running 8 hours a day). I don't think my co2 is doing much cause I have it at 6bps, but I am running a sump. Is there anything else that I can do to help with the algae.

With your sump you are going to lose alot of the co2 with water aggitation and thats probably why your not seeing your plants over take the algae. Are you dosing ferts as well?

I just ran out, but I was dosing both. Do you think that I need to turn my co2 up? And can a mod change the thread title to Help with a sumped planted tank. Thanks

will uv help in that case? no because gsa is stuck to the glass and it wont flow through a UV sterilizer, you might get other benefits i guess, ut i dont condone the use of UV.

sumps and co2 dont really mix well because the amount of agitation gasses off a lot of the co2 when running through the sump

Tried canisters the tanks was just not getting enough flow, so i had to sump it. The tanks was a sumped system at one time and so I just finished the setup again.

Basically what coach and the others said...the UV wont be very efficient against GSA. It may rid of the free floating spores that on occasion pass through but the majority will find new places to colonize.
so do I just need to clean it off the tank? and would it help to get a L-144
