UV Sterilizer - intake or outflow?

I just hooked up an inline UV Sterilizer on my Fluval 304. It is on the filter intake hose. Does anybody have any ideas on this (good idea/bad idea?) thanks.

first, why do you need a UV sterilizer?

is your tank cycled, or starting the cycle?

Always on the return side. Not on the intake side.

return side the water needs to be filtered first-Anne

Yes, definitely on the return. Otherwise the inside will get filthy and not pass the UV.
