UV sterilizers?

I ran a 25 watt on my main tank (110X) hen I had an ich outbreak..I was not able to remove my bristletooth tomini without disassembling the tank so I ran the UV, a reefsafe ich med(just as an extra) and fed garilc to the tomini.
I ran it for about 2-3 months ..ich has been gone for 6 weeks..tomini has been ich free and all healed up.

we lost a couple of fish withing 24 hours of getting them from our LFS and the wife was beside herself. in her search for answers, she came home with a 24w uv sterilizer. it currently resides in the bag it came in, with its receipt. i originally told her to take it back.
we have our 75 gallon tank set up and doing well (knock on wood) and we just set up a 10 gallon QT tank.
should i keep this unit? will it work as well in the 10 as the 75? i have read all the previous posts here....but just wondered what the prevailing thought would be.
