UV Sterilizers

when i got mine i noticed more clear water and also the reduction in ich spells in my tangs which was the main reason i got it. i only run it durring the day now casue the light that comes out the little hole buggs me but besides that no differences other than what i stated above. i feel it was money well spent.

I personally think they are a solid investment. Its an investment that has the potential to save you lots of time and money down the line..The two main befefits are said above by germanman....Dealing with ich and the crystal water clarity..Would suggest any marine aquarists should have one..

Niko

P.S...mine is in a sealed unit so the light does not peek through.....

Any opinions on how to install? Are they installed on the sump supply or return lines or plumbed separately with their own pump? Brands? Maintenance? Size per gallon? People with experience please speak up.

uv question

just wondering how long a tank should be set up before adding a uv my LPS told me wait 6 mos because it will kill beneficial bacteria too is this true?:read:

Recently I purchased the AQUAEL Unimax Pro Canister Filter. This comes with a UV Sterlizer.

I have not hooked it up yet so cannot provide feedback. Does anyone have any experience with this equipment. It looks like I can control the flow of water (from 60 gallons to 170 gallons) in case I experience an Ich problem.

One other question, can this system overflow if I loose power? I do not want it to siphon out my tank if this ever happens.

Thanks, Jeff
