V. Lion on hunger stike

My volitan lion has not eaten for a week and I went back to feed him today and he wont eat. He has been eating frozens for along time now. I mainly offer squid, krill and silver sides. I used garlic guard too but it didn't work. What's your all thoughts?

Hunger strikes aren't uncommon in SW preds. When it gets hungry enough, it'll eat. Just keep trying.

why won't you try to offer it a live fish? for example a little gold fish? I know that mine relly likes it every once in a while

Gold fish is not good for lions. You shouldn't feed FW fish to SW fish. They have a different fat-protein ratio.

How long can a lion go with out eating before it dies? It's been 8 days now.

It could most likely go several weeks without any serious consequeces. You will be able to tell he's in trouble when his belly starts to look very concave. Have you checked all your parameters?

It's odd. My water parameters are great. They are the same as when he was eating normal.

Nitrates - about .5ppm
nitrites - 0
ammonia- 0
pH - 8.3
salt - 1.024

As I said, these aren't uncommon.

If you're worried, you could give it some SW feeder shrimp.

I'll do the feeder shrimp the end of the week if he doesn't eat.

Lionfish wont even accept ghost shrimp!! WOW Looks like I have to watch him starve to death :sad:
