Well, I went on vacation for a week, and the stupid auto feeder did a real number. Out of 5 full grown discus I have 1 that is just barely hanging on. My Royal pleco doesnt look like he's gonna make it, my clown pleco is the same. Well anyways here's a list of what I lost, and if anyone can help with a good deal on the same or most like these fish I would much appreciate it. Here's the list:
Royal pleco
clown pleco
2-clown loaches
5 assorted DIscus
multiple otto's
SAE's
I am also looking for a small schooling species(not neons)
Its all for a 180g semi heavy planted and Im in Bonita Springs, FL 34135

thanx,
mark

Just wanted to say....sorry for the loss 8( Michelle

sorry about your loss, but i think if anyone from this site is going to sell you a fish, you'll have to send them the auto-feeder first, and promise never to buy another one.

Ive already disposed of it in a very angry fashion. Im more set on switching to a few apisto species if I can find a reputable online dealer or breeder. My LFS's dont have anything of quality that I would want. So, any apisto breeders around???

dude u should call the company that makes them, and tell them what happened and tell them not only should they refund ur payment on the auto feeder, but they should give u money for new fish.

I thought about it, but there is no way of me proving that it was the absolute cause of the deaths. Suck, but Im stuck with it. I had some of the discus for almost 4 yrs too. Im just gonna switch to a few apisto species and be done with it.

thanx,

There's a seller on aquabid.com by the name of ApistoDave who has a very good rep, and a decent variety of species as well. He raises most of them himself.

I presume the auto-feeder dumped excessive amounts of food into the tank, and the water quality went south rather quickly.

Correct. When I was gravel vaccuiming(sp?) below the feeder, nothing but old fish food was coming up. The only thing I can think of is that it was dumping the food at night and in larger quantities. Im not going to pursue anything legal. It was due in part to me being in a rush and not having time to see how the feeder would work. And Im already in contact with Dave, of apistodave, and Im going to be making an order very soon. Yay! new fishies.

thanx,
mark
