I'll be going out of town for 1 week and don't have anyone to feed my fish. Would vacation feeders (the slowly disolving blocks) or automatic feeders be better choices for the following tanks?
Tank 1: 55 gallons, 3 goldfish 3-4 inches long, 3 mystery snails, non-planted
Tank 2: 20 gallon, 3 swordtails, 1 neon tetra (will get more after I return), 2 spixi snails (small apple snails), tank is not planted, but will be adding some java moss this afternoon
Tank 3: I'll be combining my 20 and 10 gallon endler tanks into 1 29 gallon tank. Inhabitants are lots of endlers livebearers (small guppy relatives), 3 bristlenose plecos (2 inches or so long), 4 spixi snails, and pond and ramshorn snails, tank has a few java ferns and plenty of Java moss.
I'm thinking of vacation feeders for the first 2 tanks, they're bigger fish than the endlers and I'm thinking livebearers need to eat smaller more regular meals so buy an automatic feeder for them? And I've read feeding lightly is best when one won't be there to check water quality.
Suggestions? Anybody have a recommendation for a reliable yet affordable automatic feeder?
