Vacuuming Gravel

I do the same, weekly small cleaning and a thourough once-over monthly unless my water gets cloudy or my params are not right. I also point my powerhead directly at the bottom of the tank of full blast directly after my weekly wc to stir up all the stuff so my filters can get at it better.

You're never going to get 100% of the junk out of the tank anyway, so just do what we all do, the best you can. Its just like your carpet, its ok to vac around the coffee table every now and then.. I usually vac about 3 times a week... (been slackin lately!) but I try to hit the spots I missed last time..
And I always hit the heavy spots, the corners, and the places where my pleco likes to hide....
