Asides from the usual green algae on rocks and glass, sometimes I see a bloom of frilly hair algae, perhaps 5mm long in the tank and it's on everything - heaters, filters the lot - appearing almost overnight.
The fish love it and while there is plenty and the fish are feeding on it, I have skipped feeding during the bloom and a day or so later, when the algae is gone I resume feeding.
I`m obviously not there for the whole day to see what's hapenning, but is it likely the fish are eating it or it disappears as quickly as it arrived? I still haven't correlated it's appearance with whatever trigger causes it.
Any ideas?
My initial thoughts are:
Water changes
Uneaten vegetable matter from feeding of lettuce / courgettes (they go crazy for that)
Sunlight (yes, we have some at this time of year)
