Veggies for a pleco

If you can get away with it don't blanche the veggies. Mine much prefer them raw and I weight them down with a stainless steel knife. Waiting on the screcumbers to try them and see how they work. Remember though that they sometimes need more than just veggies in their diet so please research your plec and its' dietary needs. These happen to be one of the most missunderstood fish in the hobbiest market and the most often purchased for the wrong reasons.

I agree with KnaveTO about not blanching the cucumber or zuchini. Blanching is done in order to get the veggie to sink, but the plecos prefer it raw and it won't foul the tank water as quickly. I weigh mine down with small shrimp cocktail forks. The only time I blanch the zuchini is for the babies. Definitely put a slice in at night when the lights are out. Then remove it in the morning. If he's hungry, he'll be eating it. If your pleco doesn't seem to want it, just stick with a good brand of algae wafer and throw them in at lights out.

I will try with raw cucumber. Somebody mentioned something about garlic. Will it help if i rub some garlic or garlic paste on it?

I'm starting to worry about mine as it is becoming pale. The first picture was taken 2 weeks ago and the 2nd one today. I cant get algae wafers or disc at my lfs and I am worried that my pleco is underfed.
