Venturi Protein Skimmer issue

Well, I still don't know what the problem was, but I figured out a way to fix it.

I got to thinking, and obviously, for whatever reason, there wasn't enough pressure on the output to pull the air in. So, I figured I'd try getting the venturi to the input side, so the bubbles would go in, and as an added bonus, the impeller would chop them up. so I rigged the venturi piece using some superglue, tested it out, and had bookoo bubbles but the pump was too strong. so I put a piece of prefiler sponge over the intake, and presto, i have a protein skimmer.

Now I have one more question. The collection cup does not have a drain. The cup is very hard to get off because it has a gasket that is a really tight fit. Can I drill a hole into the cup, insert an airline, silicone or superglue around it to make it water tight, and run the airline to a milk jug? Will I crack the cup when I'm drilling?

Thanks!

I would use something hard plastic, like an air-line tubing shut off valve. Super glue that in there. Air-line tubing decays too quickly and will need to be replaced.

STOP!! Do not try to drill the acrylic!! There is a MUCH easier way! Think Ice Pick and heat it then MELT a hole to put the fitting in! If you put it in quick enough, it will seal itself from the melted plastic!

ok i have a jebo 180 right next to me.
to adjust the flow simpley twist the end of the thing attatched to the end of the air intake. Right will decrease the air flow, raising the water level. Left will increase the air flow, and lower the level of the water in the skimmer.
there is a needle and seat inside the adjustment that regulates the amount of air the ventury can draw.
it would appear that yous is closed of, scewed all the way to the right.

hey i got an even better idea
put a very thin smear of olive oil around the new rubber. it will not poison your fish or water and it should come of nice and easy, just like its ment to.
just remember to turn of your skimmer befor u pull the cup of.
