Vers-a-top lids

Anyone used these? I just bought one from petco for my 29G and it has that plastic piece for the back.

Now, when it says that this plastic piece is adaptable to any and all equipment, does that mean I need to cut it to fit?
How exactly is that supposed to work?

Yeah, you have to cut it..Its a pain to do so too..lol. What I do is put it on the glass top, then put it right up against the equipment on the tank, then take a marker and mark the sections to cut. A large pair of scissors work well..
