Vertical Gourami

Hi Guys & Gals

I have a Blue dwarf Gourami, 1 of 2, who is started living vertically. I feel that it is sick and have it in and sick bay. It isn't very active just bobs up and down nibbing at the bottom. It looks well, apart from for mentioned, and is eating.

Any thoughts?

All the other fish in tank are good.

Just a note the fish is nose down.

Is it new? What are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)? Was the tank cycled?

Are you saying that it just sits around upside down ALL the time? Or does it do it only to nibble the bottom?

my angel swims nose down vertically on and off for about two hours a day, during the time i normally feed. i usually feed by dropping flake into the HOB filter current, so that my rams get a fair shake. the angel has learned that if it swims that way it can gobble up more food as the current (and the food) cycles from bottom to top. So, the gourami may have a practical reason for swimming that way. More likely it's not adjusting well, and the only thing I know to do is keep your water clean and consistant and hope for the best. good luck.
