Vertical Pump Capacity

Is it possible to find a pump that will slowly lift 8 gal of water 14 ft? I'm getting tired of carrying buckets up and down the stairs everytime I do a water change.

I have a python, but I much prefer to premix my dechlorinator and change water before adding to the tank.

There are many pumps that operate with a 14' head height. As for slowly, you can use a valve on the end to regulate how fast the water comes out.

Why don't you use your python to fill your buckets up near your tank?

Without going into detail, it's not practical given the living room/kitchen setup.

Is it possible to convert GPH to head height? I don't want to spend a lot if not necessary.

No, it isn't (two pumps with the same GPH may have different maximum head heights). But most pumps will have head height listed somewhere on the packaging. If you're lucky you can find the curve showing flow rate at any given head height. Try your local home improvement store; at least at mine, the pond and statuary pumps are on clearance right now.
