Hi all, I added 3 sterbi's to my 65 G tank 7 days ago. i am just wondering if them always zipping around on the glass at about mid tank level is normal behaviour. When they were in the store they seemed to be very calm. My tank is 1/3 planted now and there is some rock and wood for them to hide around. I also notice when I feed the tank they will goto the bottom and eat, but then its right back to the zippin around. Any suggestion's or advice? Thanks !!

they have some of that type of cory in the planted discus tank at my fav LFS they never stop moving- very cute fish

i don't know what they were in when you bought them but i bet the plants and decour make them feel much more secure

My girlfriend has 2 sterbi cories in a 5 gallon tank. She had one, but I advised her to get another to keep the other company. At first, they were jumpy and hyperactive, but they settled down.

They seem to be very aware of our presence and are still skittish. If you approach the tank, they will dart to the back. I guess you could call them shy.

They have good appetites, though, and they are beautiful, peaceful, easy to keep fish. I think you'll be happy with them. If you approach slowly and silently and stand still while watching them, they are fun to watch.

Hi, I was thinking that about the tank decor. He had them in a darker tank with alot of java moss for them to hide in. I guess that would be a big change for them at first. your right they are neat little catfish. I think they will work good in the tank. Thanks !!

Thanks for the advice. They probably are just a little skittish form the move but I think they will settle.

Most cory cats, except the green or bronze (C. aeneus) and albinos, are wild-caught. It usually takes them a while to settle down. Once they do, they'll be just fine. They will settle down much faster and be less likely to be easily frightened if they are kept in groups. Six should be considered a minimum. Mixed species will usually school together in an aquarium. I just bumped my cory population up to 13 (a mix of C. trilineatus, punctatus, melini and sodalis) and they are pretty much one big happy.
