Very new guy with new tank!

Just out of curiosity, where is your return pump sucking the water from? The center chamber with the PVC going down or the last chamber?

The last chamber. The pipe from the T in the return pipe is just to ajust the flow from the Mag Drive. I don't know if I am going to need it but thought it might be good to put in just in case. I'll just let the over pressure flow back into the sump so as not to over heat the pump by restrickting it with a ball valve.

Ah, gotcha. Actually, I can think of something that will probably save a lot of time and energy in the future with looking at your setup.

I don't think your going to need to adjust the pump, but good to have in the beginning until you get the hang of it. I just installed a Mag18 + SQWD on a 75G tank and its perfect flow. Once you get the hang of it think of doing this.

Cut that PVC a little below the shutoff valve and install a hose fitting for the PVC. Then you can have a short hose you can either leave on and spool up, or disconnect, and it will make life so much easier for water changes. All you have to do is put the hose to a sink or bucket if no sink close by and turn the valve and start draining. The filling back up part your on your own. ;)

Yeah I was going to try and setup something like that when I started thinking about the plumbing but there really isn't enough room under there for all that. I want to keep it as neat and clean as I can under there. I know I have allot more stuff to stuff in there like timers lights plug strips and god knows what else. I do see what you are saying about the over pressure pipe and that's a good idea. I will probably do that if I don't need it.

I just check on the pump and it's on the UPS truck for delivery. I can't wait to get it hooked up and seeing this thing running. I know it will only be tap water but I'm excited. I don't want to goto work. :O( Well I only have to go in for about 2 hours so that isn't to bad. I'll post some pictures of the hole thing running later. I'm sure I will have some question when I do. Wish me luck for no leaks.

The tank test is up and running!

OK so we got the pump today and I got everything up and running. I have to say I don't think it could work any better then it is. When I first fired it up it was a bit load. There were allot of bubbles in the inlet chamber in the sump from the tank overflow. I was a bit worried because there was allot of spray from the popping bubbles. It was like a hot tub. So I started thinking that there was to much flow coming out of the overflow so I cut that down a bit and the bubbles stopped. Then the main tank started to rise so I had to adjust the over pressure valve. That is the one after the pump that dumps back into the sump center chamber. Then the sump lost water but the main tank stayed were it was. What I hadn't realized was that the water that I lost from the sump was building up in the overflow pipe. So I had to adjust the over pressure valve again and again, Up, Down, Up, Down. Well finely I got it right and now it is running great. It's pretty quite now that he bubbles and gargling have stopped. Now all you can hear is the water that is falling from he holes in the baffle between the 1st & 2nd chamber. I think that once I put the front panel on you will hear very little of that. So all and all I'm very happy with the way it works. As a bonus our heaters that we thought weren't gonna get here until the end of the week came today so I was able to place them also. Now I'm wondering if I should move one of them. I think if I keep them so close together they wont both work. I think one will heat up the other one there for the other one wont turn on. So I might have to move one. Let me know what you think about this possible problem.

Like always here are a few pictures of everything that I have so far running with water and vinegar.

Yeah I have read that sticky like 12 times so far. LOL I still have to get our RO/DI filter before we can start the cycle dame it. :O( Plus dead sand, LS, dead rock, LR, salt, test kits, meters, thermometer and a gun. Oh yeah and win lotto.

What do YOU mean by mechanical filtration? Filter floss?

I guess I could do that all so but would I have to run it on both inlets sump/fuge?
