Very new guy with new tank!

I think the next thing to think about is base and live rock. Someone said something about base rock is .99 a lb some where near here so we are gonna check that out if we can. Other then that I've been meaning to ask if I should get my power heads now or should I wait and get something else like more live rock?

Hmmm, tough call, you really need both. The rock will help with filtration, but so will the extra flow. I would say more rock before powerheads. That will give the rock more time to cure and you already have some flow with your return.

I was thinking the same thing (sorry Ash) but my GF was thinking the heads first. Now what heads should I get for my size setup? I was thinking 2 Koralia #2's at 600 gph that would be about 2000 gph, that works out to about 20x turn over. What do you think? I was also thinking of getting a nano for some finer flow spots.

My neighbor with a 75G tank, Mag18 return pump on a SQWD+Penductors, has a Koralia 3 and 4 in his tank. I say the 4 is too powerful but 2 Koralia 3's are perfect for a 75g. I have a Koralia 2 in my 29G tank and I kinda wish I went with a 3.

i will let you know about that rock on friday i usually stop by there on fridays. only day i have the extra time.

i dont think 2 koralia 4's is too strong for a 75. if you put one facing towards the surface and the other facing towards down then is perfect.

Hey there you are! I was gonna look back in the thread to see who said that. I would really like to hear more about it.

The only thing I don't like is how big they are the 3's and 4's looks wise that is.

The 3's aren't to bad.. the 4's are HUGE. The 2's are underpowered, even for a 29G tank it can't reach one end to the other, which is only 30". Everyone says look at the Koralia you think you need, and go 1 up and I have found that to be true. He has his overflow in the back left corner of the tank and placed the 4 in front of the overflow shooting down the front of the tank. The 3 is in the back right corner shooting down behind the rocks. The returns (SQWD and Penductors) shoot from the corners towards to opposite corner at alternating 10second cycles to create some current.

I saw the 3's at our not so LFS today and they are so big looking. I guess I will have to get use to them. I'll tell you what our LFS owner is nuts. he's trying to sell the 3's for $60.00. I can get them off of F&S for $37.49 ea.
