Very new guy with new tank!

Oh ok I have seen that. I was thinking of use the 3's for that. I got you now.

Well, with the 3's you can't alternate current, just swirl it around. I think the SCWD is the best wavemaker for the $. Of course things like Sea Swirls are better, but cost $200ea compared to $40 for a SCWD.

I would go with both on your tank. 2 3's AND a SCWD. Here is what I just did over the weekend to my 29G tank. I added a SCWD to my tank (Got a new one for only $10 from someone in my reef club) and added a second return, along with upgrading my pump (old Mag7 from my neighbors Mag18 upgrade) and hose from 1/2" to 3/4". This is a quick and dirty MS paint I did just to show how it looks. Keep in mind each side turns on when the other side is off. I also have the Koralia 2 in my tank.

I see! I'll have to look into that. I think it will have to wait but down the road I will do it.

It took me.. well.. I guess my reef tank has been setup 6 years now, until I finally added a SCWD. So it is definately something you can add down the road, and pretty cheap and easy.

Yeah but it sounds like the way to go. I'm trying to find out some info on this sand. I just put a new thread up to see if anyone knows anything about it.

Here is the list a came up with a few weeks ago.

This Is My Stock Wish List

Ok I understand that I wont be able to fit all of this stuff in my tank. I have just made up a list of things that I like not only for how they look but also how they live and act on a reef.
I was wondering if any of them sound like they shouldn’t be put in a tank together and if so, why not. The 3* are the ones I really would like to have in the tank. 2* I would like but only if they get along with the 3*. 1* Are less important but like them. The things with no * maybe down the road.

I know it's not a very long list but I don't sleep. LOL

lol, wow, that is some wish list. Obvously you know about the Mandarin and what most people will say about it being put in so early, but there is a chance it will be ok.

Horseshoe and Emerald crab.. horseshoe needs a lot of sand area to dig in. I had one a short time, really cool crabs, but I didn't have enough sand/beach area in my tank for him so I gave it to me neighbor. Emerald.. not the most reef safe of crabs, mine used to eat my zoas all day long. Other crabs on your list seem fine. I have had a Sally in my tank for years (well, on my 2nd one now) and they are really cool cleaners but have been known to grab a small fish when they get bigger.

Hippo Tang.. very timid fish and very prone to disease from stress. Personally I wouldn't recommend them. Actually, I would strongly advise against putting any tang in your tank. I have tried, and seen others try time and time again and it has always led to failure in a tank less than 100G. Every time the people that couldn't keep a yellow or purple tang would only put in 1 at a time and from what I have read they really like to be in a group or they stress out. Plus they crap a lot and really can foul up the water. If you do get one I would love to see you prove me wrong and have a healthy tang after a year in your tank.

Cardinals... will be great in your tank, same as the Chromis.

Clowns.. well, pick the ones you want and get a pair. I don't think you will have much luck mixing all those different clowns on your wish list.

4 Line wrasse can get big and are mean and not really reef safe from my reading, I don't have personal experience with that one. I did have a 6 line wrasse and those are really cool fish IMO and was reef safe in my case.

I don't see any Angels or Gobies on your list.. I would look at one dwarf angel if you want one, but as you may have read in the other thread, they are "nippy" fish most of the time. Gobies though.. get a bunch! I love gobies (kind of have to with such a small tank, lol)

That's what I plan on doing. I'll just brush it out of the way just like if you rework your tank.

We got the sand and some other stuff tonight. We found a really good deal on sand at Pet Smart. Now I wouldn't buy fish or anything from there but I figured sand would be fine. It was only $6.99 a 20lb bag. We got 5 bags. The next closes price was $16.00 witch isn't that bad but $6.99 is great. I only got the dead sand and still need 1 bag of live. 1 bag of live sand 20lb $30.00. I'll get that on Friday. I didn't want to get that at Pet Smart. We also got a hydrometer, pH buffer, pH test kit and salt mix. In total we spent $112.00. I think that is pretty good.

Here is a picture of everything we picked up.

Eeeeeshhhhh...i cant believe how cheap you can buy sand for over there....its criminal the prices they charge here....
