Very new guy with new tank!

Actually, just creat a Blog like my link and post just the most up to date info there and point your signature to it like I did. That way you will have a clean slate to post your new tank on.

Well I do have a link to this thread on there and I do have a blog already.

I think that this is going to be the last night I will be using this thread. I think I might start one for the new cycle.

The RO/DI filter will be here tommorow so I had to do some things while there is no water in the tanks. I figured that everyone is talking about fish, stars, snails, and even octopus getting sucked up the drane pipes in there overflows. From what I can till the only way they can get in there is to jump over the top of the overflow. I don't know why they just don't make a cover. (the manufacure that is) Well that's what I did. I have not seen any thing like this on any of the tanks that I have seen on here. Maybe it will help the problem. It isn't that hard to make and it works really well. It just snaps into place and tight.

I allso made a cover for the fuge. I found when I had the tap water in the fuge the sides bowed out just a bit so I just had to put a cross bar on the midle like on most tanks. the back and front are removable. I drilled 2 1" 1/8 wide holes one in the front and one in the rare covers that are for picking them up and out allso for air.

The last one I had to try. In the sump were the water flows from the fist chamber to the next threw the holes the water falls down to the lower water level in the 2nd chamber which is a litle noisey so I thought that if I put a slide under the hole that the water could just slide on and down with out the spashing. I guess will see how it works in the next 2 days.

Ok so here are some pictures!

Thanks I just can't wait for this filter. I know it's not gonna get here until late afternoon. It's a 75gpd so it wont be full tomorrow but it will be Sat. I feel like it's ready I can't think of anything else I have to do. I just keep steering at it and thinking what am I forgetting.

BTW, I think the only issue with a cover over the overflow is if the slits somehow get clogged the water could still go over the top without spilling. Personally I have never heard or seen that ever happen, but I guess that may be why they don't make covers on them. It should also greatly cut down on the noise coming from there as well.

Again... newbie of the year! I have never seen someone new to the hobby setup such an awesome tank the first time. Simply amazing to me. Great job!

Well there isn't any noise coming from there. There was when I first turned it on but I fixed it. I just closed the valves going to the sump and the fuge witch backs the water up into the drain pipe witch stays in the same place. That stops the water from falling so far and gurgling.

Y thank you! I just like building thing and figuring out/fixing problems. I guess this is the right hobby for that. LOL Hey maybe some day I can post for tank of the month. I just hope I don't get my butt kicked by this thing/monster I have created here.

Ace25 are you online? I need help with something. I'm trying to figure out how to post picture in the midle of a post. I can only figure out how to stack them all at the end of a post. I have seen people that have typing in between there pictures on the same post. Do you have any idea how to do this? If so please tell me how?

Whoa... I like that overflow cover...

Like Ace says, there's a chance that the "teeth" might get dirty and the water might go over the cover, but I personally think there's a much greater chance of a darn snail clogging the pipe and flooding the tank... Plus, as long as you look at your tank everyday, I think you'll catch it before the teeth clog up anyways

In that regard... Awesome job!
