very simple lighting question.

Can I run 40W tubes in a fixture designed for 55W tubes? Or 50W for that matter, if there is such a thing.

If it is an NO flourecsent fixture with electronic ballasts they will work fine.

ya it depends on the ballast, most ballasts are designed to run various wattages of bulbs.
look on the ballast, it should list the bulb types it can run.
