hey guys, i was in Ed's Pet World in Homewood, AL yesterday, and i saw the weirdest plecostamus i've ever seen.. as far as bulk and mass goes, it was huge! about the size of my fist... but it was like, only a head and tail... no body!! total length was probably 6 to 8 inches... when i first saw it, i thought it was fake, and then i thought it was dead and the other fish had just eaten away at his body... one of the guys at the store said the fish has been there as long as he could remember... the design it had (skin color and pattern) was like the queen abaresque, with the stripes.... oh yeah, and talk about juveniles!! in another tank, they had some plecos that were no bigger than a fingernail!! i would never have seen it, but someone came in to buy one, and i heard them talking about a bristlenose... so i went to see, and it was in one of those square cups that they use to put the fish in the bags

yeah, that looks like it, but this fish still looked different.. maybe its because it wasn't flared up like that pic..thanks for the info, in case i want to get one in the future... cuz if this one's full grown, then it won't get too big for my current tank...

Royal panaques can manage about 14" when fully mature....and you must have bogwood in the tank for them to eat, as lignin is very important in their diets.

14 inches...wow... that's huge compared to this one i saw... and it was huge in my opinion! i know common plecos get pretty big, but they're long and slender... this one makes me think of an oversized football!
