For testing rocks that may leach, can you use any Vinegar? I used Cider (The only one we have) and It didn't fizz. Would this be different if I used White?

P.S I also use Hydrochloric acid (CVS stuff), nothing happened there either.

Methinks yer rocks are OK :)

It's the acetic acid in the vinegar...I don't see how it would matter what kind ya use.

If it don't fizz with HCl, it's pretty stable! hmm...didn't know you can get HCl at CVS...not that I need any...I have about a gallon of it already...

Eh, the vinegar test is really vague.....its not too particularly of a strong acid or anything, so even if doesnt fizz, it may be really alkaline.

If the hydrochloric doesnt do the trick, I would say the rock is fine.

Truthfully, I've never really cared about those tests.....If the rock looks fit for aquarium use, I just put it in. The limestone rock that we're so scared about is pretty frail and is easily distinguishable.
