Yeah from at least the sixties. I think they started doing glass bottoms in the 70's after they were bought by mattel.

Man, I would love to have that, would look so nice next to my 75 metaframe! But sadly, you are too far...

Yeah I know if only i were headed where someone would appreciate this...Sadly texans don't seem to appreciate these vintage tanks. I would like to restore it completely myself but I don't think I'll be able to any time soon.

If you can't get what you want for it, then stick it somewhere till you have the time. that tank with the lid is worth more than what you are asking. Don't settle, hang on to it. You'll probably never see another one.

Thanks Sabbath!

Yes, please at least keep it safe. Don't sell it to some random person that has no idea what it is and what it's worth!

Q, does anyone know how much a Metaframe 75 would fetch? I don't have lids for it though, but everything else is original.

Your location matters more than anything.
In an area with enough population to have an interest in Retro home furnishings, price and speed of sale can be ridiculous. If there is a very active flea market near by, I'd start at $250. If you were at a flea market near NYCity, and would deliver, you'd be foolish to start at less than $1000.

In my part of Michigan, you'd be looking at $75.00.

Strange, I live near Houston I've tried the local fish forum and they said $500 was a ridiculous price. Then again they did'nt really know what they were looking at. Does anybody have an idea of what a stand would look like from this time? If I were to restore it or sell it, I would like it to be accurate for the period.

Fish forums are not the place to sell retro gear!
Fish forums are full of fish people, looking for cheap tanks, not home furnishing people who will pay much bigger $$$ for retro furnishings.
For a used, old, fish tank, that might require work to seal, $500 is too much. For a retro piece of home decor $500.00 is cheap.

The stand would have been welded steel. (mis-named cast iron) Most towns had a local welding or ornamental iron work shop that the pet store would have dealt with. Shipping tanks was required. Stands were more easily purchased locally. You'd have taken a picture to the metal worker, given them the dimensions, and come back in a few days to pick up your stand.
Here's some pictures for smaller tanks.

There's a fish store in manassas, va with a metaframe 10 gallon tank...they want $100 for it...I laughed at them and walked out the door. Nothing came with it, no idea it's condition, it was on the top shelf.
