violet goby wasting away

I've been keelping mine in w/F8s, so the SG is lower, 1.005. It's nice & fat & even lives with the piggy molllies. It wouldn't hurt to treat for IPs.

Alright, I've been trying to feed and night and dumping the food in the corner rock pile where the larger fish don't fit, so he can maybe filter out food in peace. I think I'm going to try setting up a QT for him anyway, maybe try treating with the Levamisole, and it will make it easier for both him to get food, and me to monitor his eating anyway. Also, I think he might be missing an eye but they're so small I can't tell, since he's never close enough to the glass or in the right direction.

Well just as an update, I set up a qt tank for the VG last night. Hopefully it will fatten up. I have some Paraguard, should I try treating with that, or do you think I should try and get some of the Lavamisole, or just try feeding it and see if it starts looking better after eating a bit?

Hi Sploke.

I would try levamisole. Better do it than later. It will become ineffective later on and the fish is beyond saving.

Just an update....no pics yet but it's definitely putting weight on. It looks like it either jammed its head into some rocks too hard or the mudskipper took a chomp on its head at some point. It still has two eyes, but one looks kind of...deflated, and the area around the eye socket is kind of dented in. Whatever happened, it looks fully healed now and doesn't seem to be causing any discomfort, and its eating and getting a round belly again. I'll probably end up keeping it in qt for a month or two and hopefully get some size on it before returning it to the 75.

Ha I just found this thread, so I figured I'd update it. The VG is still in the QT tank, but man is it fat now. Its probably doubled in girth and grown about 3". Unfortunately my GSP killed my mudskipper, so I'm not putting the VG back in the 75 until I can move the GSP out, and then I'll get another skipper. Anyway, no meds or anything, I think it just needed to eat. Can't wait to get it back into the main tank so I can actually see it again.
