Viquarium Tank!!! THANKS LAUDY000!!!!!

Did not know that either! Darn i guess i should have done my homework! Will newts be ok?

If they are Fire bellied newts the excrete a toxin too. It totally different from the toxin produced by FBT's. As a rule mixing newts and FBT's is a no no. If you want info on both check this site out http://www.caudata.org/forum/

I may have to set up my Waters edge kit now. I bought both Viquarium kits produced by Tetra two years ago on E-bay and haven't used them yet. No they are not for sale.

Looking good! I agree with Just Prince though, you would need to have to change a lot of the water very frequently to prevent toxins from building up. You may want to get rid of the Fiddler before he dies.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I will get him out and do the water changes more often. I think I will get a few more frogs and the newts and call it quits. I will see how things go first before i start adding. Thanks for the site Just Prince. It helped alot.

Well the safest setup would definitely be a Fire Bellied Toad only tank. Potential tankmates could be White's Tree Frogs (i've done this with no problems), Fire Bellied Newts (very controversial, lots of conflicting opinions), or maybe guppys as long as you can keep toxicity down. If you do White's Tree Frogs make sure they don't drown. Mixing amphibian species is dangerous, but it can be done with work.

As long as you monitor everything to make sure it goes okay it should be fine. Have a tank ready to move them too if there are problems though, or you could maybe get the store to take them back. Keep a close eye for the first couple days, but with the newts also I wouldn't try guppies, too much toxicity and they'd be eaten.

Goodluck with the the Fire Bellied newt. The need cooler water than the toad. In the mid 60's if I remember. I could not get mine to eat and ended up returning them to the pet store. Paddle tails are aggressive and would prey on the small FBT. Seems like you are set on the newt/ toad combo. If you check out that site more you will realise that that will only lead to disappointment and unhappy pets. Goood luck either way.

Both are great escape artist so make sure their are no gaps in the lid.
