hi everybody,
Im looking for a protein skimmer on a tight budget. I have a 55 gallon glass tank, with 55# haitian live rock, 9" lion, 6" miniatus grouper, 3"emperor angel, small snowflake eel, and a bunch of cleaner inverts. My LFS showed me this Visi-jet skimmer and said they thought it was great for the money. They are normally very good and I can get a new one on ebay for $40. I know it isn't a cpr or the likes but would it work? Any one with anything to say would be very helpful. thank you, Justin

Don't do it!!!! I bought one this weekend for my 15 gallon tall nano.. One very cheaply made, and two, No matter how slow you set the powerhead and the venturi inlet, you get a TON of bubbles in your tank... The bubbles are infact small which is just perfect, but.... Most of them are forced out the bottom of the tube into the tank.. Its very EYE unpleasing....My tank was filled with tiny air bubbles in less than a minute.. I WAS MAD!!!! :mad2 The worst $30.00 I ever spent.. Plus its roughly a foot and a half tall...Its very big.. Your best bet as I will do, is to save for a nice hang on skimmer.. I learned the hard way and in this area, you don't want to skimp on that.. Best thing to do till then is water changes... At least till you can save up for a niceer skimmer than the "Jet"....

In my opinion, I would NOT recomend this....Maybee better off with a cheaper air driven one... Whom knows???

Spankey

I got a jebo 180 on ebay for my 55 and I've had no problems with it..It removes 1/2 cup of skimmate a day so far..Yeah it makes a few bubbles for a few minutes after cleaning it ..and when first set up ..but 40.00..works til I get a bigger tank...

Skimmer

Do you still have the Jebo ? If so will it work for a 75 gal. FOWLR
? and what are you asking for it ?

Thanks
